Vivian Ekstrom

As the CRA’s Director of Planning and Community Development, Vivian works on implementing community plans and returning vacant and blighted properties to productive use – whether that’s quality, affordable housing, businesses that provide services to residents, or amenities such as parks or gardens. She also works with the CRA team and the community to implement grants focused on brownfield assessment and cleanup and people-focused transportation improvements.

A native Memphian, Vivian holds a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before her role with the CRA, Vivian worked as an Urban Planner in North Carolina for the City of Raleigh and as the Sustainability Manager for Memphis and Shelby County.
