The City of Memphis and Shelby County Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has hired Jordan McKenzie as Director of Community Building and Economic Opportunity.
In his new role, McKenzie will lead the community engagement and community impact efforts. By managing projects and initiatives that focus on block wellness, community partner collaboration, and neighborhood curb appeal, McKenzie helps fulfill the CRA mission of blight remediation and attainable housing. He also leads economic opportunity efforts by providing business entrepreneurial mentorship and fostering partnerships between local businesses and CRA programs.
Jordan has an extensive academic background. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a dual major in Political Science and History, a Master of Public Administration in Planning and Economic Development from Georgia State University, and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science from the University of Memphis. He has achieved a litany of professional certificates and certifications, including being a certified urban planner (AICP) and a Certified Tennessee Economic Developer (TCEcD).
“We are excited to welcome Jordan to the team. His education and experience will provide a critical addition as we work toward building generational wealth through our mission to fight blight and provide affordable housing,” said CRA President, Andrew Murray.
The CRA also welcomes Andy Greenman as Communications Coordinator. Greenman is a multimedia specialist with a passion for storytelling. He is a 12-year veteran newspaper designer and also has over seven years of economic development experience working for agencies similar to the CRA.
