Memphis Brownfield Coalition
The CRA was awarded $1,000,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to complete assessments and remediation plans for a selection of sites in four target areas in the urban core of Memphis.
A brownfield is defined by the EPA as “A property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.” The Memphis Brownfield Coalition was formed to coalesce around the need for assessments and remediation of potentially contaminated properties that are vacant or underutilized.
